Frequently asked questions
For Participants
For Employment Providers
Our sessions are led by a Registered Psychologist, but they are not long-term therapy. We focus on practical support to help you feel more confident, connected, and ready for work in your everyday life.
We’ll work with you on real things that get in the way — like routines, stress, communication, or getting back into community — in a way that feels safe and respectful.
If you ever need deeper or ongoing mental health support, we can help you find the right service for that too.
Only if you want to. We’ll never push you to share anything you’re not comfortable with.
Our focus is mainly on what’s happening now and what you’d like life and work to look like next. If talking about parts of your past helps you move forward, we can do that together in a safe and respectful way — but it’s always your choice.
Participation is voluntary, and we can’t wait to work with you! While we don’t manage your payments, this program counts toward your mutual obligations. If you can’t make it, please let us and your provider know so we can reschedule to another suitable time.
We offer flexible options:
· Your Path: We’ll meet at your Employment Provider’s office in a private room.
· Community Connections: Initially at your Employment Provider's office, then we'll plan meetings at relevant community settings. We will always agree on a safe, comfortable location with you beforehand.
Yes. Participation in the Your Path or Community Connections programs are a recognised activity. We provide confirmation of your attendance to your Employment Consultant so your points/requirements are recorded accurately.
Session 1: We chat about where you’re at and where you want to be (75 mins).
Sessions 2-4: We work on practical skills—like building confidence, managing stress, or we could actually going out to practice skills in the community (60/90 mins).
Sessions 5: We reflect on our time together, the skills practiced and plan out integrating learnings into your future
The Result: You walk away with a clear plan and stronger belief in your ability to handle work and life’s hurdles.
No. Your conversations with us are private and treated with care.
We only share information with your Employment Consultant when it is relevant to your goals, safety, or practical support — and we’ll explain this to you first. Where possible, we focus on sharing helpful actions and next steps, not personal details.
If you ever have questions about what is shared, you can ask us at any time.
We get it - sometimes life throws a curveball, and your plans might need to shift. If you need to cancel or reschedule your session, just let us know at least 24 hours in advance. This gives us the chance to offer the spot to someone else who may be waiting for support.
Please understand that your Employment Provider have limited access to supported funding and are charged for No Shows and Late Cancellations.
If you know or think you may not be able to attend a booked appointment please contact AlongSide Collective by:

- emailing your assigned psychologist
- or by letting your Employment Provider consultant know.
This helps services be accessible to others who are waiting as well.
